Haila María Mompié González, known as "La Cubanísima", is one of the most powerful and recognized voices in contemporary Cuban music. With a career spanning decades, she has conquered the world's most important stages with her unique blend of salsa, timba, son and Cuban music.

From a very early age she leaned towards the arts. Dance was the protagonist of the beginning of her artistic education, graduating from the Vocational Art School of Santiago de Cuba.

She began her professional life as a singer in 1991 as a soloist in the "Tradición" Septet, and later in "Habana Son". In 1994, Haila burst forth as the most important sonera revelation of the new generation in the musical project "Bamboleo", recording two albums and touring prestigious international stages including NY Lincoln Center.

In 1998 she became the lead singer of "Azúcar Negra", gaining immense international popularity performing Cuban popular music with hits like "Andar andando". She has participated as a guest artist in world-renowned projects such as Deep Rumba, Cuban Grammys, Tropicana, Cubanismo, and the famous Buena Vista Social Club.
